Mphasis Limited was established on August 10, 1992, as a result of the merger of BFL Software Limited, an Indian IT services provider, and MphasiS Corporation, a US-based IT consulting firm. In order to improve customer service, the company reorganised in 1996 and established six independent business units (IBUs) — Compaq Development Centre, Tandem Solution, Applications, Systems and Networking, Products and Y2K.
