About ITC

ITC Limited is one of India’s largest private sector companies, headquartered in Kolkata. Formerly known as Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited, ITC was registered as a British-owned company on August 24, 1910. ITC was later incorporated as India Tobacco Company Limited in 1970, followed by another revamp to the now ITC Limited in 1974.

Primarily incorporated as a tobacco trader, ITC has now diversified into a hotels-to-cigarettes conglomerate with businesses spanning across segments. The company is a major player in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), hotels, packaging, agri-business and information technology sectors.

ITC’s Board of Directors approved the demerger of the company’s hotel business in July 2023, paving the way for the formation of ITC Hotels, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the conglomerate.
