About Indus Towers

Indus Towers Limited is a leading telecommunications infrastructure company in India. The company was formed as a combined entity after the merger of Bharti Airtel’s subsidiary Bharti Infratel Limited. Established in 2007, the company provides telecom tower infrastructure and related services to mobile network operators.

Indus Towers Limited was founded as Bharti Infratel Limited in November 2006. The company was set up to build, run and maintain wireless communication towers for telecom operators. In April 2007, the company received the certificate of commencement of business.

The biggest clients of Indus Towers are India's two major telecom operators – Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio Infocomm. The company's registered office is located in Gurugram, Haryana.

In January 2008, Bharti Airtel signed an agreement and handed over its towers business to Bharti Infratel.

The company was renamed Indus Towers Limited in December 2020.

Business Operations

Indus Towers plays an important role in supporting the growth of the telecommunications industry. It offers an extensive network of towers across the country. Based on the number of towers and co-location management, Indus Towers is one of the biggest telecom tower providers in India.

The company is primarily engaged in deployment, ownership, management and operation of passive infrastructure related to telecommunications. The company grants wireless telecommunication service providers shared access to its towers through long-term contracts. The company provides its services in different segments like tower; data analytics and automation; power supply to telecom equipment; and space management for housing telecom and power equipment. The company also provides green energy solutions.

Indus Towers owned and operated more than 20 lakh towers with over 3.5 co-locations in 22 telecom circles across India as of September 30, 2023. With operations in all 22 telecom circles covering all states and Union Territories, the company caters to the needs of leading cellular telecommunication service providers.

Financial Highlights

The company’s consolidated revenue in FY23 stood at ₹28,743.1 crore, up 2.34% year-on-year compared to ₹28,069.7 crore in FY22. Profit after tax (PAT) declined 67.98% year-on-year to ₹2,040 crore in FY23, as against ₹6,373 crore in FY22. Its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) decreased to ₹9,767 crore in FY23 from ₹14,942.9 crore in FY22, witnessing a fall of 53% year-on-year. The company’s EBITDA margin declined to 34.4% in FY23 compared to 53.9% in FY22. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at ₹7.57 in FY23 as against ₹23.65 in FY22.
