In February 2025, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) launched the beta version (pre-release version) of its all-in-one railway services app called ‘SwaRail’, developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). The app is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

SwaRail is anticipated to be a ‘super app’, offering all IRCTC services under one roof—from ticket booking to food ordering, it has it all. It is expected to be a significant upgrade from the old IRCTC Rail Connect app.

SwaRail super app key features

Account: You can make a new account or log in using existing credentials from either the UTS app or the RailConnect app. You can also use the app as a guest by verifying your phone number through OTP.
Ticket booking: On the SwaRail app, you can plan journeys and book reserved or unreserved tickets. To book tickets, choose the relevant option (reserved or unreserved) and simply enter the source (from) and destination (to), select the date and travel class, and book a ticket from the listed trains.
Train tracking: You can track a train in real-time with live updates on the app and keep a check on delays, expected arrival time and more.
Coach finder: You can also locate your coach’s position through the app, making boarding easier and quicker.
Rail Madad: You can use this grievance redressal feature, Rail Madad, to lodge complaints and track status directly with Indian Railways for faster resolution. Further, you can also submit feedback through this.
R-Wallet: This is a digital wallet integrated into the SwaRail app which can be used for secure payments for the services available on the platform.
Food orders: You can place food orders from the listed restaurants to have fresh meals when you’re on the train.
Multilingual: The app is available in several languages, allowing you to access services in the language you’re comfortable with. This caters to the diverse population of India and offers greater accessibility.

To use the app, open the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and search for SwaRail. Install the app, make an account, and start enjoying all railway services on one platform.
