8th Pay Commission website live: CPC invites feedback; here’s what to expect

The 8th CPC was announced in January 2025 and was formally notified by the Finance Ministry on November 3, 2025.

The central government has started the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) consultation process by making its official website live for public feedback. The Commission has invited government employees, pensioners and other stakeholders to share their views on pay, pension and allowances through a formal public consultation process.

Public consultation for 8th CPC

For the consultation, the government has released a questionnaire with 18 questions to gather inputs from a broad range of stakeholders, including central government employees, pensioners, ministries, departments, judicial officers and employee associations.

The questionnaire is available in Hindi and English on the MyGov platform. Stakeholders can submit feedback by March 16 on the portal. Note that submissions can be made only on the MyGov portal, and submissions through email, paper or PDF will not be accepted.

“Last date for submission of responses is Monday, 16th March, 2026. All responses should be through the MyGov portal. Paper-based physical response, emails or pdf response are not being considered by the Commission,” as per the official website.

Who can participate?

Stakeholders, including central government employees, Union Territory employees, judicial officers and court staff, members of regulatory bodies, associations or unions of serving and retired employees, pensioners, researchers and academicians, can take part in the consultation. Any interested individual can also participate. Participants must submit their inputs by March 16.

What questions are being asked?

The 8th CPC is asking important policy-level questions like:

  • What should the fitment factor represent in salary revision?
  • How should top-level government salaries be benchmarked?
  • What are the expectations around pay, pension and allowance reforms?
  • How should the annual increment be structured across different pay levels?

The 8th Pay Commission, officially the 8th Central Pay Commission, will review and revise the salary structure, pension and allowances of central government employees and pensioners in India. Pay commissions are generally constituted every 10 years to revise pay scales to align with the cost of living, economic conditions and inflation.

The 8th CPC was announced in January 2025 and was formally notified by the Finance Ministry on November 3, 2025. It will determine the salaries and pensions of central government employees for the next 10 years. The Commission has been given 18 months to submit its recommendations.
