Top gainers and losers on April 30: Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv fall over 5%, HDFC Life gains 4.19%; check full list

During the session, losses in Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank and Tata Motors were offset with gains in Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and Maruti Suzuki.

The Indian equity benchmarks ended Wednesday's rangebound session on a flat note with a negative bias as losses in Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank and Tata Motors were offset with gains in Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and Maruti Suzuki. During the session, SENSEX traded on range of 423 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,396.15 and low of 24,198.75. The SENSEX ended 46 points lower at 80,242 and NIFTY50 index declined 2 points to settle at 24,334.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Bajaj Finserv was top loser in the NIFT50 basket of shares, the stock closed 5.61% lower at ₹1,951 after it reported 14% increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹2,417 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 2025. It had posted a net profit of ₹2,119 crore during the corresponding January-March period of the previous fiscal.

The total consolidated income during the March 2025 quarter advanced to ₹35,596 crore against ₹32,042 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Bajaj Finserv is a holding company for the various financial services businesses under the Bajaj group.

Bajaj Finance shares declined 5.27% to close at ₹8,613.50 after it reported a weak set of earnings for the March quarter (Q4 FY25) on Tuesday, April 29. Bajaj Finance's asset quality deteriorated while provisions and loan losses surged in the March quarter, leading to selling pressure in Bajaj Finance shares.

The Pune-based company's asset quality showed deterioration as its gross non-performing assets (NPAs), as a percentage of total advances, came in at 0.96% as against 0.85% in the same period last year.

Trent (-4.76%), Tata Motors (-3.32%) and State Bank of India (-3.07%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, HDFC Life was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 4.19% to close at ₹745. Maruti Suzuki (-3.18%), SBI Life (1.80%), Bharti Airtel (1.70%) and Sun Pharma (0.89%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.85% or 463 points to close at 54,124.90. As many as 75 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 ended lower while 25 closed lower. Exide Industries was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 5.81% to close at ₹348.45 after it reported a 1.15% increase in its consolidated net profit attributable to the owners to ₹186.87 crore. The post-tax profit stood at ₹184.74 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Consolidated revenue from operations advanced 3.89% to ₹4,335.42 crore in the latest March quarter, compared to ₹4,172.9 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

BSE (-4.55%), AU Small Finance Bank (-4.26%), Cochin Shipyard (-4.08%) and Mankind Pharma (-3.91%) were also among the laggards.

On the other hand, Vishal Mega Mart was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 10% to close at ₹118 after its net profit surged 88% in March quarter.

Bharti Hexacom (5.48%), Indraprastha Gas (3.76%), Tube Investments of India (3.13%) and Apollo Tyres (3.09%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 1.73% or 290 points to close at 16,448.85. As many as 92 shares in the index ended lower while eight ended higher. Kfin Technologies was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 6.76% to close at ₹1,184. Five Star Business Finance (-6.16%), Credit Access Grameen (-5.95%), Himadri Speciality Chemical (-5.75%) and Newgen Software Technologies (-4.90%) were also among the losers.

On the contrary, Sonata Software was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose for third session in a row. The stock ended 11% higher at ₹417. Brainbees Solutions (2%), Mahanagar Gas (1%), Brigade Enterprises (0.78%) and Devyani International (0.51%) were also among the gainers.
