Top gainers and losers on April 25: Shriram Finance plunges 8.13%, SBI Life gains 5.15%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks fell for second straight session on Friday, April 25, on the back of rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in Kashmir valley. The SENSEX fell as much as 1,195.62 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 23,847.85. The SENSEX ended 588.90 points or 0.74% lower at 79,212.53 and NIFTY50 index declined 207.35 points or 0.86% to settle at 24,039.35.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

As many as 41 shares in the NIFTY50 basket ended lower on Friday. Shriram Finance was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 8.13% to close at ₹640 after its net profit in March quarter fell 34% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to ₹2,144 crore from ₹3,235 crore in the previous quarter. Its interest income rose 1% to ₹10,789.51 from ₹10,340.84 crore in the previous quarter.

Adani Enterprises (-3.95%), Adani Ports (-3.79%), Trent (-3.75%) and Eternal (-3.67%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, SBI Life surged 5.15% to close at ₹1,691 a day after it reported a marginal increase in profit after tax (PAT) to ₹813.5 crore for the three months ending March 2025. Net premium income in Q4 FY25 stood at ₹23,861 crore against ₹25,116 crore a year ago.

Tech Mahindra (1.02%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.95%), Infosys (0.58%) and UltraTech Cement (0.25%) were also among the notable gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 2.55% or 1,400 points to close at 53,570.20. As many as 95 shares in the index ended lower. Motilal Oswal was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 8.47% to close at ₹691.95 after it reported net loss of ₹65 crore in March quarter against profit of ₹723 crore in the same period last year.

SBI Card (-6.66%), ACC (-6.35%), Waaree Energies (-6.05%) and Vodafone Idea (-5.93%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Mphasis rose 2.26% to close at ₹2,524 after its net profit in March quarter rose 13.52% to ₹446.49 crore from ₹393.21 crore in the same period last year.

The company announced dividend of ₹57 per share.

Persistent Systems (1.99%), Coforge (1.71%), MFSL (1.29%) and KPIT Technologies (0.37%) were among the notable gainers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined 2.45% or 416 points to close at 16,547. As many as 90 shares in the index closed lower while 10 ended higher.

Angel One was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 7.03% to close at ₹2,322,90. Reliance Power (-6.92%), Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (-6.55%), PG Electroplast (-6.15%) and Anant Raj (-6.10%) were also among the laggards.

On the contrary, Navin Fluorine was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 2.99% to close at ₹4,470. Atul (2.77%), Nuvama (1.88%), Dr Lal Path Labs (1.39%) and Gujarat State Petronet (1.12%) were also among the gainers.
