Top gainers and losers on April 24: IndusInd Bank, UltraTech gain, HUL, Bharti Airtel fall; check full list

SUMMARY

The SENSEX fell as much as 392 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,216.15 dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank, Eternal and Mahindra & Mahindra.

Both the midcap and smallcap indices were outperforming the equity benchmark indices during the intraday period.

The Indian equity benchmarks snapped their seven-day winning streak on Thursday, April 24, on account of profit booking in recent outperforming banking and financial services shares. The SENSEX fell as much as 392 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 24,216.15 dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank, Eternal and Mahindra & Mahindra. The SENSEX ended 315 points or 0.39% lower at 79,801.43 and NIFTY50 index fell 82 points or 0.34% to close at 24,246.70.

NIFTY50 gainers and losers

As many as 31 shares in the NIFTY50 index ended lower while 19 closed higher. Hindustan Unilever was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 4.12% to close at ₹2,324 after FMCG giant's net profit in fourth quarter of financial year 2025 rose 3.6% ₹2,493 crore, against ₹2,406 crore it reported in the year-ago period.

Revenue from operations came in at ₹15,000 crore, up 2.08% against ₹14,693 crore in the year-ago period.

HUL's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the quarter were ₹3,466 crore, up 0.9% YoY. Its EBITDA margin stood at 23.1%, down 30 bps YoY as compared to the March 2024 quarter.

Bharti Airtel fell 1.89% to close at ₹1,846 after the company informed exchanges that it has approached telecom department seeking conversion of its deferred spectrum dues into equity.

Eicher Motors (-1.88%), ICICI Bank (-1.64%) and Eternal (-1.02%) were also among the losers.

On the flipside, IndusInd Bank was top gainer in the NIFTY50 basket of shares, the stock rose 3.17% to close at ₹819.35. UltraTech Cement (1.89%), Grasim (1.67%), Dr Reddy's Labs (1.59%) and Cipla (1.32%) were among the gainers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.13% or 71 points to close at 54,969.85. As many as 61 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended lower while 39 ended higher.

Waaree Energies was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index. The stock fell 5.84% to close at ₹2,832 on account of profit booking after surging 15% in previous session on strong March quarter performance.

Kalyan Jewellers (-3.54%), Premier Energies (-3.09%), Biocon (-2.96%) and Aditya Birla Capital (-2.87%) were also among the losers.

On the other hand, Tata Elxsi was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index. The stock rose 4.62% to close at ₹5,926. Hindustan Zinc (2.42%), Paytm (2.41%), Apollo Tyres (2.14%) and Mankind Pharma (1.75%) were also among the gainers.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended 0.04% or 6 points lower at 16,963. As many as 62 shares ended lower while 38 ended higher in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index. Kfin Technologies was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 4.80% to close at ₹1,225. Amber Enterprises (-3.43%), Brainbees Solutions (-3.16%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (-2.85%) and PG Electroplast (-2.83%) were also among the laggards.

On the contrary, Newgen Software Technologies was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index. The stock rose 9.55% to close at ₹1,088. Sonata Software (7.14%), Natco Pharma (6.81%), Inox Wind (4.54%) and PVR Inox (3%) were also among the gainers.
