SUMMARY
The SENSEX ended 1,310 points or 1.77% higher at 15,157.26 and NIFTY50 index advanced 429 points or 1.92% to close at 22,828.55. With today's surge, the market capitalisation of listed firms on BSE rose by ₹6.97 lakh crore.

The Indian equity benchmarks ended sharply higher on Friday, April 11, after US President Donald Trump on Wednesday paused tariff implementation on most countries by 90 days. The SENSEX rose as much as 1,620 points and NIFT50 index touched an intraday high of 22,923.90. The SENSEX ended 1,310 points or 1.77% higher at 15,157.26 and NIFTY50 index advanced 429 points or 1.92% to close at 22,828.55. With today's surge, the market capitalisation of listed firms on BSE rose by ₹6.97 lakh crore, data from the stock exchange showed.
47 out of 50 shares in the NIFTY50 index ended higher. Hindalco was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock surged 6.70% to close at ₹601.80 mirroring broad buying trend in metal shares after US imposed tariff of 145% on Chinese goods making Indian metal makers attractive.
Analysts say that Indian metal companies are likely to benefit from relatively lower tariffs on India compared to China's massively higher tariff.
JSW Steel (4.99%), Tata Steel (4.95%), Coal India (4.60%) and Jio Financial Services (4.29%) were also among the gainers.
On the flipside, Asian Paints (-0.75%), Apollo Hospitals (-0.53%) and Tata Consultancy Services (-0.26%) were among the notable losers.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index advanced 1.85% or 919 points to close at 50,501.50. As many as 83 shares in the 100-share index ended higher. PI Industries was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock surged 9.84% to close at ₹3,618.95 mirroring buying trend in speciality chemical shares.
Dixon Technologies (7.36%), SRF (7.08%), Sona BLW Precision Forgings (5.76%) and Bharti Hexacom (5.76%) were also among the gainers.
On the other hand, Muthoot Finance was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index. The stock fell for second straight session and closed 5.84% lower at ₹2,015. Max Healthcare (-2.96%), Astral (-1.53%), Godrej Properties (-1.40%) and IRB Infra (-1.32%) were also among the losers.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index rose 2.88% or 439 points to close at 15,696.10. As many as 93 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index closed higher. Atul was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index. The stock rose 10.46% to close at ₹5,740 on the back of heavy trading volumes. Trading volume on the counter surged than 20 times to 9,75,580 shares against an average volume of 48,228 shares.
Welspun Living (9.02%), Aarti Industries (8.12%), PG Electroplast (8.06%) and Inox Wind (7.57%) were also among the gainers.
On the flipside, Kfin Technologies was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index. The stock fell 2.56% to close at ₹999.70. Aegis Logistics (-2.14%), RK Forgings (-0.82%), IIFL (-0.55%) and Cyient (-0.40%) were also among the laggards in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
