On Monday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold stocks worth ₹1,832.46 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹2,446.33 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.
The SENSEX zoomed by as much as 4,205.27 to an intraday high of 85,871.73. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 touched the session’s high of 26,341.20.
The SENSEX rallied 2,072.67 points or 2.54% to close at 83,739.13. Furthermore, the NIFTY50 surged 639.15 points or 2.55% to end at 25,727.55.
The NIFTY50 pack was led by Adani Enterprises, which rose 10.58% as it reported a multifold jump in its consolidated net profit at ₹5,627 crore for Q3 FY26, compared to ₹58 crore it logged in the year-ago period. The firm’s Q3 FY26 post-tax profit includes an exceptional gain of ₹5,632.09 crore.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone shares surged 9.51% after it posted a net profit of ₹3,054 crore in the third quarter of FY26, marking an increase of 21.2% from ₹2,520 crore in the same period last year.
Jio Financial Services (8.30%), Bajaj Finance (6.67%) and InterGlobe Aviation (5.49%) were among the other top gainers.
On the other hand, the top losers included Tech Mahindra (-0.66%), Bharat Electronics (-0.16%), Nestle India (-0.08%) and SBI Life Insurance Company (-0.05%).
The NSE’s Midcap 100 index ended at 59,283.40, up by 1,615.80 points or 2.80%.
It was supported by gains in Waaree Energies, which closed 11.23% higher after India and the United States agreed to a trade deal.
Godrej Properties (8.83%), Tube Investments of India (7.86%), Premier Energies (7.59%) and KEI Industries (6.99%) were among the other top winners.
Godrej Properties stock soared as much as 11.73% to an intraday high of ₹1,743.10 apiece after it said that it sold homes worth ₹2,000 crore in a luxury housing project in Worli, Mumbai.
On the flipside, PB Fintech (-6.94%), Blue Star (-1.11%), KPIT Technologies (-0.81%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (-0.73%) and Vishal Mega Mart (-0.71%) were among the top laggards.
The NIFTY Smallcap index increased by 465.60 points or 2.82% to close at 16,988.95.
Its top gainers included Aarti Industries (14.34%), PCBL Chemical (11.75%), Trident (11.40%), Triveni Turbine (8.67%) and Central Depository Services (8.48%).
Conversely, Aegis Vopak Terminals (-4.19%), Ola Electric Mobility (-2.64%), Aster DM Healthcare (-2.40%), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (-1.22%) and Dr. Lal Path Labs (-1.04%) were among its top losers.
