Shares of Suzlon Energy climbed to an intra-day high of ₹59.70 apiece, up 8.41% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday, April 21. This comes after the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy released a circular that updated the list of parts of the Wind Turbine Model to be procured locally.

“The draft amendment includes domestic vendors or sources for Balde, Tower, Gearbox and Generator,” the draft notification dated April 17 stated.

The notification mandates locating data centres and/or servers, along with the storage and maintenance of all data about wind turbines in India. Further, it prohibits transferring real-time operational data outside the country.

The circular further states that the operational control of wind turbines must be conducted exclusively in facilities located within India. It also mandates locating research and development centres in India within six months.

“An exemption shall be applicable for importing these components required for 50 numbers of wind turbines or 200 MW, whichever is lower, by any new wind turbine manufacturer and/or new model for a period of one year from the date of inclusion in RLMM (Revised List of Models and Manufacturers of Wind Turbines),” it further stated.

All other conditions or procedures applicable for the inclusion of wind turbine in RLMM remain unchanged, the ministry said.
