NIFTY50 and SENSEX traded higher in mid-afternoon session on April 21. Seven out of 50-constituents of NIFTY index hit their 52-week highs in today’s trading session amid positive sentiments and strong buying in the overall market.

NIFTY50 and SENSEX started the week on a positive note. At 1:30 PM, the SENSEX was up 827 points, or 1.05%, at 79,381, while the broader NIFTY50 index rose 276 points, or 1.16%, to 24,128. Benchmark indices are showing significant rise for the fifth consecutive trading session.
Broader market indices like NIFTY Midcap100 (+2.2%) and NIFTY Smallcap100 (+1.8%) also traded higher today. As many as 89 stocks hit their 52-week highs on the NSE, while 7 stocks out of NIFTY50 hit their yearly highs today amid positive sentiments and strong buying in the overall market.
The volatility index, or India VIX, rose over 1.1% to 15.6. Among the key sectoral indices, NIFTY PSU Bank (+2.6%) and NIFTY IT (+2.5%) were the top gainers, while NIFTY FMCG (-0.8%) was the top loser.

Bajaj group companies, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv hits their 52-week high respectively. Positive Q4 business commentary after Bajaj Finance reported 36% YoY rise in new loan booked to 10.7 million in Q4FY25 earlier this month supported the buying sentiments. Bajaj Finance assets under management (AUM) grew by 26% to approximately ₹ 4.16 lakh crore as of 31 March 2025.
So far in 2025, Bajaj Finance shares have rose over 35% and nearly 4% in April month. Share of the parent company, Bajaj Finserv rose 34%. Bajaj Finserv hold over 52% controlling stake in its subsidiary.
Shares of HDFC Bank closed 0.9% high today and hit a 52-week high of ₹1,950.70 per share. The company saw a traded value of over ₹3,306 crore, while its market cap stood at ₹14.7 lakh crore. The company’s shares are up 5.4% so far this year.
India’s largest private lender posted a 6.7% year-on-year rise in standalone net profit to ₹17,616 crore for the fourth quarter of FY25. Net interest income (NII) of the bank increased 10.3% YoY to ₹32,070 crore from ₹29,080 crore from the previous quarter last year.
