With equity benchmark indices soaring on Monday, May 12, the broader market witnessed a positive momentum.  

During the intraday period, Nifty Midcap 100 was trading 3.29% higher at 54,972.80 levels, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index was seen at 16,684.30, surging 3.72%.

Midcap stocks

After opening at the 54,750.60 level, the NIFTY Midcap 100 index touched a high of the 55,077.55 level and a low of 54,587.65 during the intraday period on Monday.

Suzlon Energy (8.37%), Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (8.22%), Oracle Financial Services Software (6.85%), Escorts Kubota (6.85%) and Bharat Electronics (6.72%) were among the top gainers on the index.

Dixon Technologies (6.57%), Aditya Birla Capital (6.11%), Godrej Properties (5.95%), IREDA (5.8%) and SJVN Limited (5.67%) were the other top contributing stocks.

Meanwhile, only five stocks were trading negative on the index. Solar Industries (-1.91%), Biocon (-1.32%), Lupin (-1.21%), Glenmark Pharma (-1.11%) and Bank of India (0.84%) were among the losers.

Midcap firm Yes Bank shares were in the spotlight after the lender said eight banks would be selling 20% of their combined stakes in the bank to Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) for a consideration of ₹13,483 crore, making it the largest cross-border investment in the Indian banking sector.

At 12:26 PM, shares of Yes Bank were trading 2.05% higher at ₹20.43 apiece on NSE. The stock has gained over 8% since its previous close on Monday.

Smallcap stocks

After opening at the 16,613.80 level on Monday, the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index touched a high of the 16,709.15 level and a low of the 16,569.20 level during the intraday period.

Reliance Power was the top gainer on the index, jumping 12.73% to ₹43.57 per share on the NSE after firm posted a consolidated net profit of ₹126 crore in the January-March quarter of FY25.

JBM Auto (10.61%), HFCL Limited (9.17%), Triveni Tribune (9.14%), IFCI (8.84%) and Sonata Software were the other top gainers on the index.

Shares of Jupiter Waggon (8.12%), Swan Energy (7.7%), FirstCry (7.7%), Titagarh Rail Systems (7.62%) and MCX (7.42%) were also trading higher.

Meanwhile, only two scrips—Navin Fluorine International (-1.12%) and Devyani International (-0.11%)—declined on the index.
