Shares of Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) were in focus on Monday, May 5, after the firm reported a decline in its consolidated net profit and revenue for the January-March quarter of the financial year 2024-25.
At 10:07 AM, CDSL shares were trading at ₹1,265.90 apiece, declining 4.69% on the National Stock Exchange.
Its revenue from operations for the period stood at ₹224.45 crore, declining 6.7% from ₹240.78 crore reported in the March quarter of the previous fiscal year.
CDSL’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBIITDA) also slipped 27% to ₹107.35 crore as against ₹148.02 crore. Its margin fell to 47.8% from 61.4% in Q4 FY24.
Segment-wise, the depository activity revenue stood at ₹181.53 crore in Q4 FY25, down from ₹185.08 crore reported in the same quarter the previous financial year. Data entry and storage revenue reduced sharply to ₹42.51 crore in Q4 FY25 from ₹55.14 crore in Q4 FY24.
Apart from releasing its March quarter earnings, the CDSL board has also recommended a final dividend for FY25. “The Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of ₹12.50 per equity share of the face value of ₹10 per share for the financial year 2024-25, subject to the approval of the shareholders,” the company said in a statement.
CDSL had issued bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 in August 2024. Considering the bonus issue, the proposed final dividend rate is the highest for CDSL, it said.
During FY2024-25, approximately 3.73 crore new demat accounts were opened with the firm.

Shares of CDSL have tumbled over 0.70% in the last five trading sessions. However, since April 4, the scrip has gained over 10%. Year-to-date, the stock has nosedived nearly 27%.
Its market capitalisation at the end of Friday’s session stood at ₹27,686.23 crore.
According to NSE data, the company had touched its 52-week low of ₹917.63 apiece on June 4, 2024. The share had hit a one-year high on December 17, 2024, of ₹1,989.80 apiece.
