Trading Holiday May 1: Indian stock exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will not be operational on Thursday, May 1 due to Maharashtra Day.

Trading in derivatives, equities, currency derivatives, Security Lending and Borrowing Scheme (SLBS) stocks and interest rate derivatives will be shut on Thursday.

Maharashtra Day, celebrates the formation of the state on this date in 1960, following the partition of Bombay State into the two linguistically separated states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Thursday, May 1, is also Labour Day, known as International Workers’ Day or May Day, is an international holiday that celebrates the achievements of workers across the globe. It is associated with the labour movement.

Bank Holiday on May 1

Banks in Thiruvananthapuram, Patna, Panaji, Nagpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kochi, Imphal, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Chennai, Bengaluru and Belapur will be shut on account of Labour Day and Maharashtra Day.

However, digital banking facilities, including UPI, net banking and ATMs, and more will be accessible to customers.
