Canara Bank Q4 profit surges 33% to ₹5,003 crore, dividend announced; check record date

Canara Bank, a key public sector lender, reported a 33.14% surge in its standalone net profit to ₹5,002.66 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2024-25, according to an exchange filing on Thursday, May 8.

The company had reported a net profit of ₹3,757 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

The net interest income (NII) advanced 1.4% to ₹9,442 crore in the last quarter of FY25 as against ₹9,580 crore in the year-ago period.

The bank said its global business increased 11.32% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹25,30,215 crore as of March 2025, while global deposits surged 11.01% YoY to ₹14,56,883 crore.

The gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio improved to 2.94% as of March 2025, reflecting a reduction from 3.34% in December 2024 and 4.23% in March 2024.

The state-run lender earned interest income of ₹31,495.56 crore in the quarter ended March 2025, up from ₹29,286.12 crore in Q4 FY24.

Canara Bank announces dividend

The bank's board also recommended a dividend of ₹4 per equity share with a face value of ₹2 each for FY25, subject to shareholders' approval at the ensuing annual general meeting (AGM).

The record date for determining the eligibility of members to receive dividend is June 13.

The stock is trading 3.35% higher at ₹96.81 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at 1:40 pm. Its market capitalisation stands at ₹87,812.97 crore.

As of March 2025, the bank has 9,849 branches, out of which 3,139 are in rural areas, 2,900 are in semi-urban localities, 1,944 are in urban locations and 1,866 are in metro cities, along with 9,579 ATMs. It also has four overseas branches in New York, London, Dubai, and IBU Gift City.
