Gold prices scaled fresh life-time high levels in early trade on Friday, March 21, as geopolitical tensions and local demand continued to aid the rally. An uptick in the US dollar ahead of the key US economic data, however, capped its gains. The precious metal also pared gains in early Asian trade after scaling a record high of $3,057 an ounce in overnight trade.
The 24K gold rose by ₹10 to hit a lifetime high of ₹90,670 per 10 grams and the 22K gold to ₹83,110 per 10 grams in major Indian cities. Gold prices had jumped up to ₹220 per 10 grams to a record of ₹90,660 per 10 grams on Thursday. In early Asian trade on Friday, spot gold slipped 0.34% to $3,034 an ounce.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold traded at ₹90,820 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹83,260 per 10 grams, up by ₹10 over the last close.

Silver prices rose by ₹100 to hit an all-time high of ₹1,05,200 per kg in major cities on Friday. Strong industrial demand fueled the prices while weak global trends and an upsurge in the US dollar restricted its gains. The metal had jumped ₹1,000 to hit a record of ₹1,05,000 on Thursday. Spot silver dropped by 0.97% to $33.25 an ounce in early Asian trade on Friday.

Gold prices rose for the fourth day on Friday on a recovery in local demand. Gold prices have rallied nearly ₹990 per 10 grams this week on favourable global factors. Silver prices have also hit record-high levels this week on a rise in local demand and a subdued US dollar.
