Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, on Thursday, May 1, said that its total sales (total domestic + export) rose 6.96% to 1,79,791 units in April as against 1,68,089 units sold in the same month last year.
Its total domestic sales rose 4% to 1,51,880 units while exports rose 26% to 27,911 units in April.
Sales of its mini cars which include models such as Alto and S-Presso witnessed a major decline in April as sales of mini cars plunged 45% to 6,332 from 11,519 units in the same month last year.
Sale of compact segment cars which include models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR rose 8.14% in April to 61,591 units as against 56,953 units sold in April last year.
Sales of utility vehicles which include cars such as Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6 rose 4.36% to 59,022 units as against 56,553 units sold in same month last year.
Ciaz sales dropped to 321 units in April from 867 units.
Meanwhile, sales to other original equipment maker (OEM) surged 79% to 9,827 units from 5,481 units.
Last week, Maruti Suzuki reported net profit of ₹3,711 crore in January-March quarter, marking a decline of 4.30% from ₹3,878 crore during the same period last year. The decline in profit came on the back of slowdown in sales in domestic market.
Maruti Suzuki’s total revenue from operations including sale of products and other operating revenue jumped 6.4% annually to ₹40,674 crore in Q4FY25 from ₹38,235 crore in the year-ago period.
Maruti Suzuki shares rose 3.49% to close at ₹12,260.55 a day ahead of its monthly sales announcement.
