In a travel advisory posted on social media platform X, IndiGo said prolonged low visibility during the morning hours impacted air traffic movement, leading to delays, schedule changes and cancellations.

The airline said affected passengers were being informed in advance through WhatsApp and email.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience and understanding,” IndiGo said, adding that normal operations would be progressively restored once visibility conditions improve.

According to the airline, passengers whose flights are impacted can opt for rebooking or claim a refund.

IndiGo cancelled at least 50 flights on Tuesday, including services on key routes such as Delhi-Hyderabad, Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata, Delhi-Bengaluru, Delhi-Srinagar, Hyderabad-Delhi, Mumbai-Delhi, Patna-Delhi, Trivandrum-Delhi and Ranchi-Delhi, among others.

The cancellations come a day after dense fog severely disrupted operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, with various airlines cancelling 228 flights and diverting five flights to nearby airports due to poor visibility, according to an airport official.

Earlier, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said its ground staff were working closely with all stakeholders to assist passengers and provide necessary support across terminals.

Delhi airport, the country’s busiest, handles around 1,300 flight movements daily. Fog-related disruptions are common during winter months, often affecting flight schedules in the national capital and across northern India.
