An HSBC Global Research report said, "We expect the RBI to deliver a 25 bps repo rate cut in April, taking the repo rate to 6 per cent. Following the April rate cut, we expect two more rate cuts of 25bp each in the June and August meetings, taking the repo rate to 5.5 per cent, which is our estimate of neutral."

In February 2025, the Monetary Policy Committee slashed the repo rate by 25 basis points (bps) to 6.25%.

Notably, it was the first cut since May 2020 and the first revision after two and a half years.
